Jamboree is more than a destination. It’s the adventure of lifetime. And there is simply nothing else like it on the planet.

But just what is a Jamboree?

The National Scout Jamboree is a large-scale gathering of Scouts from across the United States, organized by Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America.) Held every four years, it’s one of the most exciting and dynamic events in the Scouting calendar, bringing together thousands of Scouts for a week-long celebration of outdoor adventure, teamwork, and friendship.

Camping

At the heart of the National Jamboree is the camping experience. Scouts set up their tents in large, organized encampments, arranged by troop or region, creating a village-like atmosphere. The event takes place at the newest Scouting High Adventure Base, the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, a sprawling and scenic site that offers a variety of outdoor settings. Here, Scouts practice traditional camping skills like setting up tents, cooking meals, and practice Leave No Trace principles The sense of camaraderie is palpable as Scouts share meals, stories, and experiences under the stars.

High Adventure

The Jamboree is renowned for its high adventure activities, offering Scouts the chance to push their limits and try things they might never experience otherwise. These activities include everything from rock climbing, zip-lining, and whitewater rafting to mountain biking, backpacking, and shooting sports. One of the major highlights is the Whitewater Rafting Center, where Scouts can navigate challenging rapids in a thrilling, team-based adventure. The high adventure aspect emphasizes personal growth, courage, and teamwork, and it gives Scouts the opportunity to experience the outdoors in ways that build confidence and create lifelong memories.

Friendship

Beyond the adventure and outdoor skills, the National Jamboree is a celebration of friendship. Scouts from all across the country—many of whom are meeting for the first time—form lasting bonds through shared experiences. The Jamboree fosters a sense of unity and common purpose, where Scouts from diverse backgrounds come together to build connections, work as teams, and learn from one another. Activities like campfires, international cultural exchanges, and service projects provide natural opportunities for Scouts to connect and form friendships that can last a lifetime.

Through all these experiences, the National Scout Jamboree showcases the essence of Scouting: personal growth, adventure, and community. It’s a unique event that celebrates the outdoors, fosters lifelong friendships, and offers challenges that encourage Scouts to develop new skills, gain confidence, and grow as individuals.

The National Scout Jamboree is 360-degrees of fun, friends and fellowship with hands-on adventure that takes you places you never thought you’d go and challenge you to try things you never thought you could.
