COVID-19 Update 5.14.23

Verdugo Hills Council

May 14. 2023

As of March 31st, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom has lifted the COVID 19 Emergency Declaration for the State of California.

Most restrictions, such as mask requirements, beach closures and business shutdowns that were prompted by the pandemic have been lifted.

Despite the end of the emergency declaration, Verdugo Hills Council remains aware that the COVID 19 virus can still pose a threat.

Council staff and volunteers will remain vigilant for the symptoms of COVID while operating Scouting events and summer programs.

Any Scout or Scouters exhibiting symptoms will be administered a rapid test. If an individual tests positive, they will be quarantined until transportation can be arranged for them to leave the event. As per National BSA guidelines individuals who test positive for COVID and any individuals who meet exposure guidelines will be recorded in Riskconnect. Additionally, VHC will report cases when appropriate to the Los Angeles Department of Public Health per their guidelines below.

**Individual Scout Units must still report cases of Covid 19 to Verdugo Hills Council discovered during meetings and/or outings and also instances where exposure of a COVID positive individual may have exposed fellow Scouts or Scouters.
