Accessible Scouting Advancement

The BSA’s advancement policy treats Scouts with disabilities and special needs as much like non-disabled Scouts as possible, but councils may make some accommodations in advancement requirements, if necessary. Start with Section 10, "Advancement for Members With Special Needs" in the BSA's Guide To Advancement.  Then parents, Scoutmasters, and Scouts are HIGHLY encouraged to contact a member of the Council Committee on Accessible Scouting BEFORE any accommodations are made to advancement requirements, either for rank advancement or merit badges.
