Outing Awareness

Who should take: Adult leaders for Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers, older Scouts (14 and above with leader), professionals, Girl Scout Leaders

Scheduled classes: February 16, 2008 or November 8, 2008

Location: VHC Service Center

Prerequisites: None

Personal Equipment: Silva-type compass, pen or pencil and paper

Course Description: This course is designed to teach Scouting leaders at all levels the knowledge and skills that will aid them in the planning and execution of fun, safe and rewarding outings. It covers the basic information for all types of outings from a trip to the local park or zoo for Cub Scouts, to one-week or longer wilderness outings for older Scouts. Subjects include trip planning, food planning and preparation, health and safety, conservation, map and compass, equipment, dealing with overheating and excessive chilling, HAT Awards and much more.
