2010 National Scout Jamboree

The 2010 National Scout Jamboree will attract nearly 38,000 Scouts and leaders, and is scheduled for 10 days in late July - early August of 2010, at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. Located in the rolling hills of Caroline County, Va., the 76,000-acre base is near the towns of Fredericksburg and Bowling Green. This National Jamboree will be held coincident with the 100th anniversary of Scouting in the United States. This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. The cost per participant will be in the range of $3500 per Scout. This cost will cover the entire trip and equipment, except for uniforms and spending money. The trip includes 10 days of touring historic sites in the eastern United States, and the 10 day National Scout Jamboree. It is anticipated that the trip will start on July 18, 2010, and conclude on August 5, 2010.

As with previous Jamborees, there will be a selection process for Scouts and Leaders to represent the Verdugo Hills Council at this awesome event. Applications for Adult Leaders are being accepted now, and Adult Leadership selection will take place in the Fall of 2008. Applications for interested Scouts will be accepted starting in the Fall of 2008 with a submission deadline of January 9, 2009. Scouts will be selected in the Spring of 2009. At this time, the VHC Jamboree Organizing committee is planning two information sessions in the fall of 2008. The first one is scheduled for 7:00 PM October 30, 2008 in the Council Service Center Auditorium. The second is scheduled for 7:00 PM November 5, 2008 at the La Canada Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Please check back often, and as information becomes available, it will be posted here!
