High Adventure Team

The High Adventure Team (HAT) serves the council and you, the Scouter, by providing:

  1. Instruction and training in subjects critical to outdoor leadership

  2. Promotion of outdoor adventure and conservation activities

  3. A resource for outing information

  4. An incentive awards program to encourage participation in outdoor Scouting activities

Your Council High Adventure team is a group of experienced and dedicated volunteer Scouters organized to promote challenging outdoor activities in the Scouting tradition of fun, safety, and conservation. We are part of the Southern California Inter-Council Association of High Adventure Teams, a forum of information exchange which ensures course quality, consistency, and timeliness of information.

In support of our mission, the primary focus is on education and reward:

  • Education - particularly for adult leaders who may find themselves in positions of responsibility for youth in critical outing situations; and

  • Reward -- awards for Cubs, Scouts and Venturers who take up the challenge of Unit-planned outdoor adventure.

As part of our program, we offer a comprehensive series of outing training courses, manage an incentive awards program, and serve as a resource for outing information. The Courses present knowledge, skills, and guidance that will help Scout leaders insure that their Unit outings will be fun, safe, and rewarding.

The High Adventure Team is actively searching for Scouters of all experience levels who are interested in furthering the aims of the program. We need volunteers who can assist with our administrative, record-keeping, demonstration and training tasks. Please call if you can provide assistance!
